Dublin Symphony Orchestra
Spring Comes Early!
Concert on Saturday, 20th February 2010
At St. Bartholomew’s Church, Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4
The Dublin Symphony Orchestra is one of Dublin’s leading non-professional orchestras whose members hail from a variety of backgrounds and professions. The Orchestra performs at least three public concerts each year and provides its enthusiastic members with the opportunity to study and perform classical orchestral music.
This season the Orchestra is delighted to be performing two well known concerti; Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto, performed by the DSO’s own Martin Smutny and an Organ Concerto by Handel, played by the well known and regular Organist at St. Bartholomew’s, David Adams. We are also thrilled to be performing a work written by our own Musical Director/Conductor, Fergus O’Carroll.
The following works will be performed at our upcoming concert:
Engelbert Humperdinck – Incidental Music from Hansel & Gretel
G.F. Handel – Organ Concerto Op. 4 No. 2 (Soloist – David Adams)
Joseph Haydn – Trumpet Concerto in E flat (Soloist – Martin Smutny)
Fergus O’Carroll – It’s Dark Here
César Franck – Symphony in D minor
The Orchestra will perform under the continuing direction of Fergus O’Carroll and under Leader Aveen McEntee.
