On Sunday we remembered the faithful departed in the context of the Annual Solemn Requiem of All Souls Day, transferred this year due to the interregnum and the recent Pastoral visit of the Archbishop. The musical setting was the Requiem by Gabriel Faure. The Organist for this service was Fraser Wilson, recently appointed Director of Music, who will be taking up his appointment in March 2008.
We are pleased to report that Fr. John and Rhona McKay have taken up residence in the Vicarage on a temporary basis whilst Fr. John is looking after the Sunday services up to 6th January 2008. The 9:00am (Sunday) Celebration of the Eucharist has been suspended until a new Vicar has been installed. The weekday services in Saint Mary’s Convent are being maintained for the interregnum by Fr. Charles Mullen, Dean’s Vicar of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Canon Tom Haskins, Vicar of Saint Ann’s Church, Dawson Street, is looking after all other pastoral calls.
The advertisement for the vacancy has appeared on both the main Church of Ireland website, and on the Diocesan website. It can be viewed here. A closing date of 30th November 2007 has been been mentioned in the advertisement, after which short lists will be drawn up by the boards of nomination.
Next Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King, and we will be welcoming Canon Ginnie Kennerley, retired Rector of Timolin group of Parishes, as our Preacher.
Rehearsals continue for the celebrations of Advent and Christmas. This year both Boys and Girls Choirs will join the Gentlemen of the Choir for the Annual Concert of Carols and Festive Readings with Alan Stanford which will take place on Sunday 16th December at 7:00pm (note time). Full details of all services can be found on this website under Music Lists.
