On Thursday 16 October we were delighted to welcome an accomplished youth orchestra from Germany to the church. Hosted by our friends at Saint Finian’s Lutheran Church, Adelaide Road, the Baroque Ensemble of the Dessau-Rosslau Music School gave an excellent and well-received concert at Saint Bartholomew’s. Their programme featured works by Bach, Handel, Schütz and Scheidt, together with Thomas Roseingrave, a former organist of Saint Patrick’s cathedral. During their time in the country they also socialised with the members of our girls’ choir and sat in on part of a rehearsal. Although unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to make music together on this occasion, it is hoped that the link we’ve formed might eventually allow us to do just that, whether it be here in Dublin or slightly further afield…
