Amergin Fire is the debut album of composer Ciara McElholm, released during lockdown to great critical acclaim. We are delighted to host the official launch of the album on Saturday, 25 February.
McElholm comes from a long line of traditional fiddle players that stretches back to Glenties in Donegal during the famine. Reinventing and reinterpreting her rich Irish musical heritage within a modern context, the concert is a celebration of past, present, and future. As McElholm puts it: “This music was bequeathed to me from my father and his people. I came late to composition and I will hit my 50th year on the night of 25 February. I can think of no better way to celebrate the last 50 years than this. It’s my statement of intent for a bright future. With choral compositions, cello, piano, pipes, and fiddle, fasten your seatbelts for a musical extravaganza, a night to remember, and a celebration of life itself.”
