The Girls’ Choir was founded in September 2002 by Malcolm Wisener, and has been playing an increasingly prominent role in the church in recent years. They rehearse weekly and sing at services on a regular basis during term time, and have brought many new musical works to the Saint Bartholomew’s repertoire.

They made their first tour in May 2005, when they were invited to sing the services in Cashel Cathedral. Since then, they have sung services at Saint Canice’s Cathedral in Kilkenny, Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. They made their first international trip to Venice, Italy in 2010 – where they sung at Mass in the Basilica di San Marco and performed concerts in Santa Maria die Miracoli and San Giovanni Elemosinario. Another international tour is being planned for 2013.

Our choristers all come from schools in the greater Dublin area, and range from eight to eighteen years of age. Each receives individual training from expert vocal coaches, and participates in group social activities from time to time. This CD has been produced just as the last of the original choristers graduates, and is intended as a record of what has been achieved in the first decade of the Girls’ Choir.
