Christmas Concerts
It may only be October, but since the annual choir Christmas concert is by far the most popular event at Saint Bartholomew’s, it’s time to save the dates—and yes, that’s plural! Last year, we sold out faster than we ever have before, so we have decided to hold two showings this year:
Sunday, 8 December @ 6.00pm
Sunday, 15 December @ 6.00pm
Tickets will be available from Friday, 1 November… well, for the general sale, that is. If you’re a Friend of the Choir, you can secure your tickets much earlier than that. In fact, this year our Choir Friends are receiving two free tickets for each showing. The cost of four tickets is already worth a good chunk of the annual membership (and the peace of mind in knowing you’re guaranteed a place at an event that will almost certainly sell out surely counts for something, too!), so why not go all in and become a Friend?
Choir Summer Concert
Our choirs will hold their summer concert on 18th June. Tickets are available here.
Choir Concert
Our first choir concert since 2019 will take place on June 19, and admission is free. We hope to see you there.
Christmas Services
Due to current social distancing requirements, all of our Christmas services will require a free ticket. Please book through the below links.
As we have a strict capacity limit, we would ask you to only book tickets you are certain that you will use. Please do not book tickets on behalf of others.
We request that you book only one of the Christmas Eve/Day services in order to allow others to attend. If you have any trouble with the booking system, please contact the parish administrator at 01-668-8522 or admin@stbartholomews.ie.
Thank you in advance.
Ben Barnes appointed as Director of Music
Saint Bartholomew’s is delighted to announced that Ben Barnes has been appointed as our new Director of Music.
Born in Scotland, Ben Barnes moved to Dublin at the age of 5, joining St Patrick’s Cathedral choir shortly after and at the age of 18 graduating to an alto lay vicarship which he has retained until now. Since completing a BA degree in music at TCD he has pursued a career as a freelance musician, which includes directing Cantóirí Choir, accompanying and teaching. He is an accomplished conductor and instrumentalist, and has performed with many ensembles on their international tours.
Ben will take up his new position shortly.
Director of Music Vacancy
Saint Bartholomew’s Church has a long tradition of music performed to an extremely high standard. Our choirs have released commercial-quality recordings, toured both nationally and internationally, and appeared on national television. We have also published a CD of organ music, and have built up a substantial following on YouTube.
The Select Vestry now seeks to appoint a Director of Music (€22,500 per annum) who will work with our assistant organist and vocal coach to develop and maintain our boys’ choir, girls’ choir, and chamber choir.
For further details and an application pack, please contact Ms Megan MacCausland by telephone (01-6688522), by email, or by post: Saint Bartholomew’s Church, Clyde Road, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Applications must be received by September 13th. Interviews will commence in the week of September 27th.
Chorister Boot Camp
Kids between the ages of 8 and 16 are invited to join us at our summer boot camp (on 21, 22, 28, and 29 August) to discover (or rediscover) their love of singing! Sessions will be run primarily outdoors in small groups with our expert singing tutors.
There will be six two-hour sessions spread across four days.
Each session will cost €10 (€50 for all six sessions).
Extra discounts are available for siblings.
Current members of the choir will not be charged.
Contact us to register your interest.
Places are first come, first served and limited to 50 for each session.
